Things are not going as planned for SK Weilheim in the Bavarian Oberliga.

One problem is particularly troubling the team this season.

Weilheim

– A look at the table of the Oberliga Bayern – it is not a pleasant one for the Weilheim chess club.

After four rounds, which is almost half of the season, the team is at the bottom of the table.

0:8 points and only 8.5 board points – the balance is sobering.

SK Weilheim is at the bottom of the table

“It doesn’t look good,” says SK player

Thomas Lochte

.

Looking upwards is forbidden: “It’s all about staying in the league,” emphasizes Lochte.

The whole thing is even more threatening because the leagues will be restructured next season.

So far, the Oberliga is the third highest division;

There are ten seasons in it - from north-north to east to Baden and Bavaria.

In the future there will only be two third leagues.

According to Lochte, this means “quite a bit of pressure” for the current Bavarian league, i.e. stricter relegation regulations.

Therefore, points are absolutely necessary in the next five rounds.

The explanation as to why things aren’t going well for Weilheim is relatively simple: “We can’t get the best line-up on the board,” says Lochte.

“That's very annoying.” The chess club has very good players, but it's not that well positioned across the board.

And for the substitute players, despite all the commitment, the standard

in the top league

is still very high.

In addition, in the 3:5 win against SK Schwandorf, there was “a bad game by the established forces,” said Lochte.

There was an unexpected defeat against the promoted team.

SK Weilheim can't get the top team on the board

The 3:5 win at home against SC Noris-Tarrasch Nürnberg was not entirely surprising.

The guests arrived with five title holders, including a grandmaster and two international masters.

In the Weilheim squad currently available, only Oliver Lehner has the “International Master” standard.

Lochte reported that they “didn’t have a chance” in the game.

“The majority was already on the Nuremberg side.” Lehner got a draw against grandmaster Leonid Milov.

Youngster Marco Limmer also delivered a pleasing result: He managed a draw against a competitor who was around 300 Elo points better.

“He did well,” praised Lochte.

The Weilheimers want to continue to give the 13-year-old regular match practice in the major league.

In the most recent duel, Limmer promptly scored half a point again.

In the catch-up match against Schachfreunde Augsburg, he separated himself from Fide master Thomas Brückner with a draw on board six.

Otherwise, only Ludwig Deglmann (3) and Klaus de Francesco (4) managed a draw.

The game against the Swabians, who had Grandmaster Luka Draskovic at the top board, was lost 1.5:6.5.

The third round game was canceled in December due to heavy snowfall at the time.

On Sunday, February 4th, the fifth fight of the season is on the program for the Weilheim team.

It's going to SK Tarrasch Munich.

The hosts at least won one game (5.5:2.5 against SK Kriegshaber).

For the Weilheimers, a win is a must.

Last year the duel ended 4:4.

Statistics:
