The 36-year-old Chilean grew up in the club's youth divisions, and even played in the senior team uniform for two years, from where he embarked in 2005 on a successful career in Europe during which he played for teams such as Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Inter.
And now, after he also moved to Flamengo and the Brazilian Atlético Franense.
He returned to his youth team and received a special ceremony.
Vidal arrived at the ceremony in the stadium filled with about 35,000 spectators in a helicopter, but very quickly returned to older means of transportation and began riding a horse through the stadium, wearing a cloak and holding a sword.
He then spoke to the crowd with tears of excitement and dressed in the club uniform.
