Former ski jumping world champion Markus Eisenbichler simply cannot get out of his slump in form.

Could he end his career?

Munich – Markus Eisenbichler is a great among German ski jumpers.

The Bad Reichenhall native became world champion several times and won the bronze medal in the team at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.

But things haven't been going well for him on the hill for some time now, and his fall is becoming more and more dramatic.

Ski jumping star still completely out of shape

In preparation for the current season, he was left out of the World Cup squad due to poor form.

A shock for Markus Eisenbichler, who from then on had to compete in the second-class Continental Cup.

“Those who are not there definitely have the opportunity to offer themselves with good training performance for the following World Cups.

The principle of performance applies here.

“We are of course open to every athlete who performs well,” said national coach Stefan Horngacher at the time.

Things weren't going well for Markus Eisenbichler in the second league of ski jumping.

“It's incomprehensible to me that he can't bring anything together.

He often covers up a lot of things.

We need to talk about where we're headed.

Performance counts, that's just how it is.

It doesn’t matter how many medals you have hanging at home,” complained Horngacher in mid-December.

At the turn of the year, Eisenbichler pulled the ripcord because he simply couldn't keep up with the competition.

The 32-year-old took a break and recently stopped competing.

Instead, training in Seefeld was scheduled to work on form and become competitive again.

Ski jumping ace Eisenbichler before a possible end to his career?

Several media outlets unanimously reported that Eisenbichler should make his comeback at the Continental Cup in Willingen at the end of January.

But nothing came of it.

“For clarification: Markus Eisenbichler will not be competing at the COC in Willingen this weekend.

When the squad was announced, his name appeared by mistake in some information services,” wrote the DSV on Facebook.

Statements make you sit up and take notice

It is unclear when Eisenbichler will take part in a competition again.

Since his poor form has been going on for several months and he currently has no chance even in the second-class Continental Cup, there is also a possible end to the exceptional athlete's career.
