Three weeks after the death of the football icon, FC Bayern published an interview with Hoeneß, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Paul Breitner in the club magazine “51”.
The “Emperor’s” long-time friends once again pay tribute to his achievements and personality.

Rummenigge on Beckenbauer's death: "It pulls the ground out from under you"
Breitner feels the same way: “Franz leaves an emptiness behind that we will always feel.
There's a saying that you shouldn't say anything bad about people who have died - we wouldn't think of anything anyway." Rummenigge also had a hard time eating the news.
“It takes the floor out from under you,” he admits.

Beckenbauer doesn't just leave a legacy, but a legacy - that much becomes clear when you listen to people like Hoeneß, Rummenigge or Breitner, who have big names themselves.
Hoeneß praises Beckenbauer for “masterpiece”
In his eulogy, Hoeneß also praised Beckenbauer for his “greatest masterpiece”.
Hoeneß finally created his own masterpiece with the “new” FC Bayern.
Despite Beckenbauer's initial doubts.
“At the beginning there was certainly a certain amount of skepticism on his part towards us younger people who now want to turn the club around,” remembers Hoeneß.
“But we became friends, he wanted to be close to us and talk to us, and he called often.
He will remain an incomparable person to me forever.” Football Germany does not contradict him.
