Sharon Kantor and Katie Spichkov advanced to the finals of the World Championships and secured a double Israeli podium, but only one of them will receive the prestigious ticket to the Olympics

Huge drama.

Sharon Kantor and Katie Spichkov advanced to the finals of the World Windsurfing Championship in the IQ FOIL model, securing medals for Israel, and will fight each other for the ticket to the Paris Olympics, where whoever finishes first in the finals will get to go to the French capital at the end of the year.

In the semi-finals, Kantor crossed the finish line with Spichkov doing so immediately after her, which ensured another year in which two Israeli surfers were on the podium.

Even before that, a big disappointment for last year's champion Shahar Tibi, who jumped ahead of time in the quarterfinals and was disqualified.

As a result, Tibi lost the opportunity to compete for the ticket to the Olympics and ended her journey in the competition in eighth place.

Israel's history in the World Windsurfing Championship is full of achievements, when almost every year Israeli competitors would get on the podium.

For the men, this happened for the last time in 2011 with the bronze medal of Nimrod Mashiach in Neil Pride, but since then they have not been able to repeat the feat and get on the podium.

Since the World Championship in the current model (IQFoil) was held for the first time in 2021, Israel's women's team has starred, it started with a double podium for Daniela Peleg when she won the silver, with Lida finishing with the bronze medal Maya Morris in the competition held in France.

And last year in the Netherlands, Tibi did it with the gold and silver for Katie Spichkov.

For the men, Tom Reuveni participated in the quarter-finals, finishing in fifth place and ranked eighth at the end of the championship.
