Big drama today (Saturday) at the World Windsurfing Championship being held in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
Sharon Kantor won the semi-final sailing in the IQ Foil model and secured her first career medal at the Senior World Championships, while Katie Spichkov, who was already a three-time runner-up in the World Championship, also secured a medal and will face Kantor in the final for the right to represent Israel at the Paris 2024 Olympics
. Now, To get the Olympic ticket, Spichkov must win the final and win the gold, and Kantor must finish only in third place.
Any other result will determine that the 21-year-old Kantor will be Israel's representative in Paris, although in light of the close fight it seems that the announcement will wait until the coaches' recommendation and the professional committee's decision.
This is the second year in a row that two Israeli women will stand on the podium at the World Championships, when last year Shahar Tibi won the gold and Spichkov the silver.
This time Tibi was disqualified in the jump in the quarter-finals, was eliminated and of course lost the chance to reach the Olympic Games.
currently in advantage.
