With the Ski Flying World Cup, the second highlight of the 2023/24 season is now history and the athletes are back to everyday World Cup life and the
hunt for the overall World Cup
.
For the DSV Eagles, however, the next highlight is about to begin, as the ski jumping circus stops in Willingen, Hesse, on the world's
largest large hill
.
Ski jumping in the live ticker today: Wellinger top - rest of the DSV team is weak
Andreas Wellinger
certainly has the best chance of making the German ski jumpers' home game successful
.
The individual silver medalist is currently the only jumper in the DSV camp who can keep up
with the top athletes around the overall World Cup leader and ski flying world champion
Stefan Kraft .
For the rest of the team under national coach
Stefan Horngacher,
mediocre is currently the order of the day.
Especially for Philipp Raimund, who was nominated as the fifth man at the Ski Flying World Championships but did not play, and Stephan Leyhe, things have been going steadily downhill since the good start to the season.
Ski jumping in the live ticker today: Kobayashi secures qualification victory
Wellinger was again the best German in the qualification on Friday, but only came eighth with his 139.5 meters.
From a German perspective, he was followed by
Karl Geiger (12th)
,
Felix Hoffmann (18th)
,
Philipp Raimund (24th)
,
Pius Paschke (32nd) and Stephan Leyhe (42nd).
Four Hills Tournament winner
Ryoyu Kobayashi
was able to win the qualification ahead of
Johann Andre Forfang
from Norway and
Stefan Kraft
and is therefore the top favorite for tomorrow's competition.
On the other hand, the Slovenian team, which had confidently won the gold medal in Bad Mitterndorf, presented itself weakly.
The best Slovenian was
Lovro Kos
in ninth place.
