FC Bayern courted Ronald Araujo during the winter transfer period.
He would also have liked to come to Munich, but apparently he didn't receive permission.
Munich – Due to the personnel situation, FC Bayern was essentially forced to become active on the transfer market in the winter.
Weeks before the start of the winter transfer period, numerous names were already circulating through the rumor mill.
The name Ronald Araujo also came up again and again; the German record champions were apparently courting the 24-year-old defender intensively, as he was considered one of Thomas Tuchel's dream players.
Araujo apparently wanted to move to FC Bayern - Barca coach vetoed it
But it already seemed clear in December: a change in winter is out of the question.
According to transfer insider Raphael Honigstein from
The Athletic,
the reason for this was Barca coach Xavi, who apparently vetoed the move.
According to the report, the player was interested in a move to FC Bayern, and the Munich supervisory board had already given the green light for an 80 million offer.
However, Honigstein writes, Xavi is said to have threatened to resign as coach immediately if Araujo left the club in the winter.
The 24-year-old is considered one of the top performers in the club.
That was the end of the issue – at least in winter.
FC Bayern would have liked to sign Ronald Araujo from FC Barcelona.
But apparently coach Xavi really wanted to keep him.

Is Araujo coming in summer?
FC Bayern apparently remains interested
According to Sky
, FC Bayern is
still very interested in the defender and could make a new attempt in the summer.
Then coach Xavi will no longer be there; he already announced his departure from the Catalans in the summer.
Although FC Bayern found a cheaper solution for the sparse defense with Eric Dier at Tottenham Hotspur in the winter, there has been a persistent rumor for weeks that Matthijs de Ligt is having a difficult time with coach Thomas Tuchel and is therefore leaving the club in the summer could.
Then Araujo could take his place.
There is still a lot of time until then and De Ligt can prove himself due to Dayot Upamecano's renewed injury.
