The winter sports dream couple Shiffrin/Kilde were hit by bad luck in January, both injured themselves in horror falls, now emotional mommy words follow.

Munich - The year 2024 got off to anything but a good start for the two ski aces Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.

Both of them were initially guests in hospitals, although they much preferred spending time on the slopes.

The winter sports dream couple were injured two weeks apart after horror falls, with Shiffrin getting off more lightly than her partner.

The skiing dream couple falls in quick succession, but only Shiffrin escapes unscathed

It was the descent in Wengen in mid-January that first rocked the ideal ski world.

Kilde fell into the fence shortly before the finish and remained lying.

Catastrophic images for all ski fans and onlookers in the auditorium.

The Norwegian was transported away and treated in hospital.

It didn't take long before the American was at his side and took a grinning selfie at his hospital bed.

A good face against the evil game.

And two weeks later in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Shiffrin suffered a similar fate.

She lost her footing in a curve, shot straight into the red fence and briefly took off again.

She remained lying down, but was then able to walk off the slope herself using the ski poles as crutches.

A helicopter transported the record holder.

Mikaela Shiffrin flew completely out of the curve and remained in the safety fence.

Her impact was violent and the body briefly lifted off the fence.

Despite the horror fall, Shiffrin is already working on a comeback, mom Eileen shares a sweet photo from the living room

So while both of them prefer to stand at the top of the podium, they are currently happy if standing is pain-free at all.

Eileen Shiffrin, Mikaela's mother, photographed both of them between the couch and the dining table in the living room.

Shiffrin herself stands behind Kilde, laughing, her rehab progress is significantly further, she trains with dumbbells.

Kilde is more in a horizontal position, with his leg in a splint.

Eileen Shiffrin shared pictures of the two's rollercoaster careers.

Celebrating poses on the podium, but also photos of Kilde being transported away or of Mikaela in the hospital.

She wrote: “You won’t be left behind because you have the speed.

You will overtake everyone and be first.

Wherever you fly, you will be the best of the best.

Wherever you go you will defeat everyone, except you can't, because sometimes you won't.

I'm sorry, but injuries and setbacks can happen..."

Slightly paraphrased, the mom describes the way back again, that it won't be easy, and ends with the words: “Will you win?

Yes!

You'll!

You will move mountains.” While Shiffrin is sweating in the weight room, a strain in the medial ligament in his knee makes active comeback work possible, Kilde still has to be patient.

“The situation surrounding my injury is unclear.

I'm confident that things will be fine again, but the question is how long it will take," explains the 31-year-old.

The Norwegian cut his calf deeply in the fall in Wengen, but fortunately no nerve was injured.

He also showed the wound to his fans, and they had to endure disgusting photos.

His shoulder is also damaged and he tore two ligaments.

But many people support him, including his family-in-law.

Fighters like Kilde, who has had his fair share of setbacks, will bounce back from the next one.
