The hoped-for German festival in
Willingen
, Hesse , did not take place on Saturday.
In pouring rain, the DSV team experienced a
disastrous competition
, but it also had a few surprises outside of the German debacle.
Ski jumping in the live ticker today: German team in low form
Only
three German jumpers
were able to qualify for the second round; in the end, local hero
Stephan Leyhe
was the best German with 15th place.
Andreas Wellinger
missed the chance to make up a lot of points in the overall World Cup on Stefan Kraft, who was eliminated in the first round.
He finished two places behind Leyhe in 17th place.
Pius Paschke
came 26th.
However, Karl Geiger
,
Philipp Raimund
and
Felix Hoffmann
, who had to give up in the first round, were
even weaker .
This means that Geiger and Raimund are still in poor form.
Ski jumping in the live ticker today: Forfang is favorite to win after the hill record
Just as surprising as the early elimination of the overall World Cup leader,
Stefan Kraft
, was the lead of
Antti Aalto
from Finland after the first round, but he fell back to 14th place in the final with a weak second jump.
The winner was
Johann Andre Forfang
from Norway, who
catapulted himself into the role of favorite for the second competition with his
hill record .
In addition to Forfang, the Four Hills Tournament winner Ryoyu Kobayashi
is also
one of the contenders for the day's victory after his second place on Saturday.
But
Andreas Wellinger
and
Stefan Kraft
will certainly be a force to be reckoned with again tomorrow.
So everything is set for an exciting second day of competition.
Qualification starts at 2:30 p.m.
