A historic moment was recorded at the World Diving Championship, which is currently being held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, when a 13-year-old boy, only eight months and nine days old, won the gold medal in the mixed competition (men and women) from the 10-meter springboard.

The one who did this and entered the record book, is the Chinese Huang Jianji, who was born on May 26, 2010, thus becoming the youngest athlete in the sport to receive the gold medal.
He did this together with his partner for the competition - Zhang Jiaqi (19 years old), who is 6 years older than him.
His record is reminiscent of that of his compatriot, Wu Minxia, who at the age of 12 won the world gold, and at the age of 13 already did so in the Olympic Games in Barcelona 1992. From that moment the minimum age limit (14) in the Olympic Games for the 10-meter platform was introduced, because of the risk to children.

The president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and the president of world water sports, Hussain Al Muslim, awarded the medal to the young couple.
"Bach conveyed his blessings to us, which is a great honor for me," said the young champion.
"I only joined the national team training at the end of 2023. My teammates are all world champions, and I had no achievements. I can relax a little now, because I am also a world champion."
