“Excited, relieved, surreal”
: words fail David Kahn, president of Paris Basketball, to describe the feeling that animates him before the inauguration, Sunday, of the Adidas Arena.
Designed to host the badminton and rhythmic gymnastics events of the Paris Olympic Games, as well as the para badminton and para weightlifting events of the Paralympic Games, this new 8,000-seat venue will now also and above all serve as a showcase for Parisian training, a resident club of this room located at Porte de la Chapelle (18th century) and owned by the Paris City Hall.
“It’s been a long wait.
Six years for my part, before the club was even formed
,” breathes David Kahn (62), at the head of the Paris Basketball project since its beginnings, in 2018, and went through the organization chart of the Pacers and the T- Wolves in the NBA.
And added:
“It will allow the club to reach a whole new level”
.
Until now, Paris played at the dilapidated Halle Carpentier (13th century).
