New exceptional result for Matthieu Pavon.

A week after his first victory on the PGA Tour, the prestigious American circuit, at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, the French golfer achieved a new feat by placing third in the highly renowned AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Saturday evening, after the third round, the son of former footballer Michel Pavon was already in third place, behind the American Wyndham Clark and the Swede Ludvig Aberg.

The 4th round having been canceled due to a storm which hit California, this result is therefore definitive.

The @attproam officially reduced to 3 rounds.

It was a press release from the organization which made the news official, and therefore the Frenchman's podium.

“The storm that affected the Monterey Peninsula throughout the day Sunday is expected to continue into the early hours of Monday with very strong winds,” we read.

Although conditions are expected to improve Monday morning, following consultation with Monterey County emergency authorities, who have put in place a shelter-in-place order until tomorrow morning for the entire Pebble Beach community, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all participants, there will be no play Monday.

Although the rain is expected to dissipate later today, the high winds are forecast to remain throughout the day.

Due to concerns over safety, there will be no golf played Sunday.

Round 4 is scheduled to be played on Monday.

Brilliant since Thursday, Matthieu Pavon had achieved the feat of once again putting himself in a position to play for victory.

With cards of 65, 70 and 66 (par being 72), the Frenchman posted a record of -15 before the last round, just two shots behind the American Wyndham Clark, who had broken the course record on Saturday in returning a 60 card.

Even if he was unable to attempt his second consecutive victory, which would have constituted a new monumental feat, the 31-year-old golfer will undoubtedly savor this third place, which allows him to take the lead in the ranking of the FedExCup.

He is ahead of Americans Chris Kirk and Wyndham Clark.

This ranking makes it possible to offer bonus points to the best players during the last stage of the Playoffs, contested during “The Tour Championship”, the last tournament of the year.

In 2023, it was the Norwegian Viktor Hovland who won.
