FC Bayern celebrates a victory against Gladbach

Coach Thomas Tuchel did without the two new signings Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza in his lineup, who initially sat on the bench.

The duo only moved to Munich this week shortly before the winter transfer window closed.

Noussair Mazaoui, who is back from the Africa Cup of Nations, was in the starting line-up.

Thomas Müller, who recently received the maximum penalty, was once again allowed to play from the start and was able to impress.

The original Bavarian self-promoted for the starting eleven next week in the top game against Leverkusen.

FC Bayern against Gladbach: All statements and interviews about the Bundesliga game

First, Munich fell behind against their feared opponents after a bad pass from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to Thomas Müller by Nico Elvedi.

But shortly before half-time, youngster Aleksandar Pavlovic equalized with his second goal in a row.

The hosts struggled for a long time in the second half until a Müller action turned things around.

In the aerial duel, the Raumdeuter put pressure on Gladbach keeper Moritz Nicolas, who missed the mark and involuntarily presented the ball to goal scorer Harry Kane.

The Englishman headed the ball into the empty goal.

Shortly before the end, Matthijs de Ligt also headed the score to 3-1.

We're excited to hear what those involved have to say about FC Bayern's game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Thomas Müller (FC Bayern player) after the game on Sky about...

... the 500th victory:

“There are too few games and victories when you think about what would have been possible.

But I'm not a fan of anniversaries.

I just got a jersey, the team cheered me on.

Next week it's against Leverkusen.

We are well on the way to winning away in Leverkusen.”

... a starting eleven in Leverkusen:

“I would line up.”

... the too few games in his career:

“In the end you always want to do more.

But that was more of a flax, good try.”

... his rhythm:

“I actually have to say, ten minutes before the substitution I already noticed my calves.

If you don't play that much, an adjustment is necessary.

We got good reinforcements in the winter.

We have to keep the energy at the limit.

If one person can’t do it anymore, then the next one comes.”

Thomas Tuchel (FC Bayern coach) after the game on Sky about...

... the victory:

“We stayed calm and reacted well to being behind.

We had good chances to take the lead, then we fell behind against the run of the game.

Gladbach defended very tenaciously and persistently.

“Harry dusted himself off and did his homework.”

... the goal that made it 0-1:

“Gladbach covered us very offensively.

Thomas was pressed, then they played it very well.

Bit of a risky choice from Manu.

Thomas is cracked, we can do better, but it can happen.”

... Thomas Müller's performance and a possible starting eleven in Leverkusen:

“We knew that he would be very mobile.

I am happy.

He got his 500th win, unbelievable.

We have a week.”

... New signing Sacha Boey:

“Nous (Mazraoui, editor’s note) played very well, Sacha then finished it very well.”

... your own demands:

“We will prove that.

I believe that we are competitive in a very complicated first half of the season due to injuries.

Eight national players were missing against Augsburg.

We trust the squad and have to push ourselves to our limits.

... the next opponent Leverkusen:

“We have to be at our best, there is no other way.

We are ready.

We have the chance to give them their first defeat and get past them.

We are only two points behind.

We have to prove it and not make big noises a week in advance.”

Christoph Freund (sports director FC Bayern) after the game on Sky about...

... the game:

“We started well, had two huge chances, but didn't take them.

After conceding the goal, the reaction was very good.”

... Aleksandar Pavlovic:

“It's impressive, he plays it hard.

We are very happy with him, a great boy.”

... New signing Sacha Boey:

“You could see that he has energy and is in the duels.”

... a starting eleven appearance by Thomas Müller against Leverkusen:

“He is always a candidate for the starting eleven.

He's always busy and unpleasant.

It’s nice that he was able to reward himself today.”

...the winter transfer window:

“Unfortunately we have a few injuries, so we reacted again.

We are happy with how things turned out now.”

Thomas Tuchel (FC Bayern coach) before the game on Sky about...

... his flu-like infection:

“Everything is fine.

Meetings yesterday and today with a mask.

Normally I shouldn't be contagious anymore, but we don't want to take any chances.

There was a virus going around in the trainer’s office.”

... Opponent Gladbach:

“Let’s see if they take the same approach as against Leverkusen, we don’t know for sure.

The Gladbachers can defend tough, a bit like rubber.

They are very hardworking and can counterattack.

We want to attack from the outside and try to open the door one-on-one.”

... Nous Mazraoui, who was given preference over new signing Sacha Boey:

“Nous came back in good spirits and has no injuries.

He had Corona at the Africa Cup.

He is better at the processes and knows where we want to protect and attack.

He can play between 60 and 70 minutes.

It might be ideal for Boey to not start right away, see all the action and then finish.”

... Thomas Müller, who is somewhat surprisingly in the starting line-up today after three games on the bench:

“The position is vacant.

I know you always pay special attention to this.

He’s always a candidate for the starting eleven, today he’s on it.”

... his demand to Jamal Musiala:

“Dribble to open it up, together with Phonzie (Davies, editor's note).

We hope that he (Davies, editor’s note) can confirm his improving form.”

... Sané and de Ligt, who both have four yellow cards and face a suspension against Leverkusen:

“Everyone has to be careful.

For me, football doesn’t work like that, we need everyone today.”
