FIFA announced today (Monday) that the 2026 World Cup final will be held in New Jersey, at the "Met Life" stadium, which mainly hosts football games in the NFL league. As you know, the tournament in 2026 will be played in three countries at the same time: USA, Canada and Mexico.
The stadium, located about five kilometers from New York City, has a capacity of 82,500 spectators and is currently home to the NFL's New York Giants and New York Jets.
The decision comes after New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy applied pressure, citing their region's international appeal and infrastructure after a major event.
FIFA announced that the opening match will be held at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on June 11, with the final as mentioned to be held at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey on July 19. In addition, it published an infographic that includes the dates and locations of all the matches in the tournament , including the semifinals to be held in Dallas and Atlanta and the quarterfinals in Los Angeles, Kansas City, Miami and Boston.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced the details in a video alongside American comedian Kevin Hart, with appearances by other celebrities and sports figures, including Canadian rapper Drake and former Brazilian player Capo. It will be the third time Mexico has hosted the men's tournament, the second for the U.S. And the first time in Canada.
