The Biathlon World Cup is the highlight of the season for ski hunters.
But the conditions for the title fights in the Czech Republic are poor.
A weather fiasco is brewing.
Nove Mesto – The anticipation of the Biathlon World Championships is clouded by bad weather.
Although one would probably have to say that the weather is too good, or more precisely, too warm.
Because in the Czech city of Nove Mesto, where the ski hunter title fights will take place from Wednesday (February 7th), the temperatures are significantly too high - there is no snow.
The World Cup is threatened with a tragedy.

The mild climate at the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto is likely to pose major challenges for athletes and organizers.
“The weather is not favorable at the moment, that's a fact.
But we believe we are ready,” said competition director Vlastimil Jakes to the
German Press Agency
.
There are currently significantly plus temperatures, there is no longer any frost at night, rain is even forecast from Wednesday, it could be stormy.
On Monday training was canceled due to strong winds.
“We are constantly monitoring the weather forecast and hope for an improvement in the second week of the World Cup,” said Jakes.
The prospects for the winter sports event in the Czech Republic are not too rosy.
It is far too warm at the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

Tragedy threatens at the Biathlon World Cup: “There is no Plan B”
The World Biathlon Association is also relying on slightly colder temperatures in the second half of the World Cup.
“We're not worried.
The snow depots are well filled.
There is no plan B and it would no longer be feasible,” said IBU communications director Christian Winkler in response to a dpa request.
The competitions are not in danger; enough artificial snow has been prepared in advance.
“We still have 50,000 cubic meters of snow in the depot.
We're not worried about a lack of snow, but during inclement weather like temperatures above zero and rain, the quality of the snow won't be as good as when it's below zero,” Jakes said.

There is one meter of artificial snow on the routes around the Vysocina Arena.
For protection and with a view to the start of the World Cup next Wednesday with the mixed relay (click here for the broadcast schedule for the Biathlon World Cup), all routes and the entire stadium area are covered.
The bad weather will of course also have an impact on the visual aspect of the World Cup.
There is no snow in Nove Mesto, only the prepared routes indicate the upcoming highlight of the season for ski hunters.
