If he is not a high-sounding name in international rugby, the hooker is one of those Chilean players who distinguished themselves during the last World Cup, where the Condores, although beaten four times, seduced the public with their lively game and their conquering state of mind.
Diego Escobar, son of an international rugby player and brother of another Condores player, third row Alfonso Escobar, particularly distinguished himself during the first group match against Japan before getting injured.
He will be the second Chilean player to wear the colors of Racing after second row Sergio Valdes in the 2000s, when the club was still playing in ProD2.
He currently plays with the Chilean franchise Selknam which plays in Super Rugby Americas and which has greatly contributed to the progression of rugby in this Latin American country.
