FC Bayern Munich loaned Frans Krätzig to Austria Vienna until the end of the season.

The left-back should gain match practice with the Austrian Bundesliga club.

Update from February 6th, 3:16 p.m.:

FC Bayern makes it official: Frans Krätzig will be loaned out to Austria Vienna until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old defensive player is supposed to gain match practice with the Austrian first division club.

“Frans Krätzig is in a phase of his young career in which he has to play regularly in order to be able to continually improve his level,” emphasized Christoph Freund, FC Bayern’s sporting director.

“At Austria Vienna he has the chance to take the next steps in the professional field.

We will monitor his development very closely in the coming months.” His contract with FC Bayern runs until June 30, 2027.

Media reports: Kratzig before loan to Austria

First report from February 5th:

Munich - Whether 1. FC Nürnberg or Standard Liège, a loan from Bayern's own product Frans Krätzig was often discussed in January - and could now come about after all.

Krätzig could move to neighboring Austria for the rest of the season.

Transfer window in Austria open until February 6th

While the transfer window in Germany closed for new arrivals on February 1st, transfers to other countries can still be partially realized.

In Austria, where the league doesn't start again until the weekend, the transfer phase ends with the so-called Deadline Day on February 6th.

According to the TV channel

Sky,

the Munich team is talking to Austria Vienna about a temporary change for the 21-year-old left-back until the end of the season.

Austria coach Michael Wimmer in particular should strive for his services.

Frans Krätzig will probably be on loan in the winter.

The competition in defense is fierce

In defense, Bayern had a bottleneck in the center and on the right side, which has now been closed with Eric Dier and Sacha Boey.

This doesn't make the fight for playing minutes any easier for the talent.

In Krätzig's position, Alphonso Davies, who suffered a medial ligament strain in the 3-1 win against Gladbach and will be out for a good two weeks, and Raphaël Guerreiro are in front of him.

The left-back only played 52 minutes this Bundesliga season and was never enough for more than one short appearance.

The Nuremberg native was able to look back on more minutes in the DFB Cup and was in the starting line-up, among other things, when Bayern were eliminated against Saarbrücken in November.
