Becker realized that as a coach he would have to be available to the seventh in the world rankings “much more than I can.

“Due to professional and private commitments, I can’t give Holger what he needs,” Becker wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Rune had recently failed in the second round at the Australian Open - without the direct support of Becker.

The former Wimbledon winner instead worked from Germany for the broadcasting TV station Eurosport as an expert and co-commentator.

But he communicated with Rune every day, he said later.

By the way, the German Alexander Zverev made it to the semi-finals, but his dream of the final was dashed there.

Becker returned to coaching after seven years

Just a week ago, Rune ended his collaboration with former Roger Federer coach Severin Lüthi.

“I have tried out many different coaching constellations over the last twelve months.

After working with the same trainer for 15 years, it is not easy to find the perfect partner,” said the Dane in a statement from the IMG agency.

Becker returned to coaching in October after almost seven years.

“I wish Holger all the best and will always be his biggest fan.

“I really enjoyed this journey together,” continued Becker.
