Highlights: Alpine unveils the A424 launched to conquer the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The French brand presented the Hypercar called A424. The French brand presented the Hypercar called A424 which will participate in the World Endurance Championship and in particular the 24 Hours of Le Mans.


The Alpine brand will open a new chapter in its history by participating this year in the World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 15-16), the peak of the season.

Associated with the Signatech team led by Philippe Sinault, the French manufacturer unveiled this morning its Hypercar (the name of the cars participating in the premier category of Endurance) called A424.

The two prototypes will be entrusted to the trios composed of Nicolas Lapierre, the rookie Mick Schumacher and Matthieu Vaxiviere n°36).

The twin sister (n°36) will be in the hands of Charles Milesi, Paul-Loup Chatin and Ferdinand Habsburg.

Jules Gounon arrives as a reservist.

On a technical level, the A424 will have an Oreca chassis and the car will be powered by a 3.4-liter V6 turbo engine supplied by Mecachrome and adapted to Viry-Chatillony.

The accompanying hybrid system is installed on the rear axle.

It has been several weeks since the manufacturer crowned at Le Mans in 1978 (with Jean-Pierre Jaussaud and Didier Pironi) carried out tests in order to be ready for the opening of the season at the Prologue organized on the Losail circuit (24 and 25 FEBRUARY).

A baptism of fire awaits the two crews facing fierce competition including Ferrari, Peugeot, Toyota, BMW, Cadillac, Porsche and Lamborghini.

A royal field which confirms the revival of the discipline and a new golden age of Endurance which now brings together more brands than in Formula 1.
