French amateur pursuit champion in 1947, Charles Coste was named captain of the French Olympic team for the 1948 Olympic Games. With Pierre Adam, Serge Blusson and Fernand De Canali, he prepared the meeting between La Celle-Saint- Cloud and London to acclimatize at the Herne Hill velodrome, with jaunts to Denmark.
