TSV 1860 Munich is strengthening itself again.

Stephan Engels becomes the Lions' senior squad planner and Christian Werner's right-hand man.

Munich – The TSV 1860 is positioning itself even more broadly on the sporty command bridge.

According to information from tz and Münchner Merkur, the Lions are bringing in Stephan Engels from SC Verl. The 32-year-old will be head of squad planning, will work closely with the new sports director Christian Werner and will work with him to make sixty fit for the future.

Who is Engels?

The Essen native is the holder of the DFB elite youth license and is considered well connected in the industry.

In Verl he was most recently employed as chief scout and as such demonstrated a keen eye for talent.

Engels took the lead in putting together a team that even stormed to third place in the table with their rousing, offensive football.

And that under difficult conditions: According to information from tz and Münchner Merkur, Verl's third division budget is well in the bottom third of the table in a league comparison.

Engels has already proven in previous positions that he can do a lot with little resources.

Before he started working in Verl, the father of the family quickly worked his way up through the Oberliga (1. FC Bocholt) and the Regionalliga West (Rot-Weiß Oberhausen).

Thanks to his work as sports director, Dorfclub Bocholt was promoted to the regional league in the 2021/2022 season.

Now Engels should move the lions forward.
