Since Xavi announced his departure from the FC Barcelona bench on January 27, many coaches have shown interest in taking over from the Catalan.
A new name has been added to the list.
According to Sport, Antonio Conte, former coach of Juventus Turin and Chelsea, would have offered his services to FC Barcelona.
Since his departure from Tottenham in 2023, the 54-year-old coach has been looking for a bench.
However, he is not the favorite, his name not initially appearing in the short list of Joan Laporta, Blaugrana president, and Deco, sporting director of the Catalan club.
The latter would prefer to move towards recruiting a German coach.
Jürgen Klopp, leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, and Hansi Flick, formerly with Bayern Munich, would thus be the two names which keep coming back insistently in the Catalan papers.
For one, Klopp, the mission promises to be complicated, because the future ex-coach of the Reds says he is a victim of physical and mental wear and tear.
On the other hand, Flick seems very open to the possibility of joining Catalonia.
The former Mannschaft coach has already started taking Spanish lessons.
However, Conte's candidacy is not completely rejected by the Barcelona board.
Sport thus indicates that “nothing has been decided yet”.
Barcelona must in any case prepare for a high-risk end to the season, hoping to win at least one trophy this season.
