During a press conference of the UEFA conference today (Thursday), the organization's secretary general Theodore Theuridis laid bare the attempt to get Israel and its national teams suspended from European football events.
"There is no intention to suspend Israel, its situation and Russia's are completely different," Theodoridis said.
This morning it was announced in "Sky" that 12 football associations from the Middle East united under the leadership of Jordan, calling on FIFA and UEFA to exclude Israel from all competitions as was decided regarding Russia after it started a war against Ukraine.
"Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza and killing innocents, including footballers, coaches, referees and football professionals. We must present a united front in isolating Israeli football from any activity until these acts of aggression stop," reasoned Jordanian Prince Ali bin Hussein in a letter he sent.
Meanwhile, at the same event, UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin announced that he does not intend to run in the 2027 elections. The Slovenian, who has been the head of the European Football Federation since 2016, said that the decision was made by him six months ago "for family reasons", he claimed that he was "tired of the corona and Wars" and also called the Super League project "nonsense".
