Will he soon be a support for TSV 1860 Munich?

Joel Zwarts is back in team training and is eager for his comeback in the 3rd league.

Munich – 110 days.

Joel Zwarts was out for so long, no longer on the ball, but a lying Dutchman.

The hope for a storm became a problem child.

Abdominal muscles, adductors, pubic bone - somewhere in between there was an inflammation that not only caused problems for the 24-year-old, but also for the Lions, who no longer scored goals.

Joel Zwarts before return – last goal for TSV 1860 Munich in October

Zwart played for 1860 for the last time on October 21st, and a week before that he scored his last goal (in the 1-1 draw in Münster).

For a quarter of a year, doctor's offices, MRI appointments and rehabilitation centers determined his everyday life.

The end of the contract is approaching (June 30th), time seemed to be against Zwarts.

Until yesterday!

After his first attempts at substitute training on Wednesday, he was finally allowed back on the pitch with the team on Thursday.

Dribble a little, pass a little, juggle a little;

He also scored a goal in the short session two days after Essen (2-0).

When Zwarts left the first place around 11:15 a.m., only the February sun was shining a little more.

“Was Joel there?” joked captain Jesper Verlaat, who did most of the exercises with his compatriot.

Verlaat's verdict - another flax in the direction of the missing colleague: "Verbalically he's doing pretty well again." And how does the coach see his returnee?

When contacted by our newspaper, Argirios Giannikis said: "Everything is holding up at the moment, he is pain-free, but we haven't done much two days after the game."

Schröter, Guttau, Ouro-Tagba and Lakenmacher thrive under Giannikis

Good for 1860: Zwarts can be improved in form, fitness and team without pressure, because the goal drought was yesterday, or in 2023. The lions are grazing all the markets in the winter, even finding three young players who collectively fill the vacuum in the attack to fill in (Güler plus the wingers Nankishi/Muteba) – and suddenly: the snapshot works again.

Of the eight goals in the first five games of the new year, seven were scored by the previous attackers.

Schröter scored twice, Guttau twice, Ouro-Tagba once and Lakenmacher, the much-maligned man, twice.

The best way to see from Fynn Lakenmacher and his body language is that the Lions are making a positive development (in terms of sport).

Artistic goal against Duisburg, sparkling clean pressing goal against Essen.

The blossoming storm giant raves about his partner Julian Guttau, who has recently supported him up front: “It works really well and is really fun to play with Gutti.” Guttau politely returns the praise: “Laki is important for us.

He has shown often enough that he can score goals.” And in general: “I feel very comfortable in the system we are currently playing.” So Guttau is probably not the only lion.

The points average in 2024 speaks volumes, as does the relaxed atmosphere in yesterday's training, which was followed by a relaxed run on the Hochleite.

Future as a professional club in danger reading

“He explained to me credibly how excited he was to finally be back on the pitch in competitive games for 1860.”

Christian Werner, sports director at TSV 1860 Munich, about Joel Zwarts.

Zwarts also seemed highly motivated.

But how badly do the Lions (still) need their storming Dutchman?

His first games in 1860 in particular showed that you can always need a fit Zwarts.

Four goals in eleven games is a good rate.

The ex-Regensburg player also has the drive to draw attention to himself again in the season finale.

Sports director Christian Werner is amazed: “He’s much further along than you thought.

And he's burning!

He explained to me credibly how excited he was to finally be back on the pitch in competitive games for 1860." (Uli Kellner)
