On Sunday, former coach Michael Köllner is coming to the Grünwalder Stadium with Ingolstadt.

Successor Argirios Giannikis is chasing the series of his predecessor.

Munich – Two wins, three draws, no defeat.

Things have been going well again at 1860 since Argirios Giannikis took over an unsettled team at the beginning of January.

Only his predecessor, Michael Köllner, had a better starting record than the Franconian Greek.

And that's exactly what the Lions expect on Sunday for the always explosive Upper Bavaria derby (4.30 p.m. in the live ticker).

Like Giannikis, Köllner also had nine points from five games at his debut at 1860: 1-1 against Bayern II, 3-2 in Haching, 1-1 against Großaspach, 2-2 in Ingolstadt, 1-0 in Münster.

In terms of goal difference, Giannikis' record is even marginally better (8:3 versus 8:6), but the new Lions coach knows that the former Lions coach is already doing quite impressively with FC Ingolstadt.

Giannikis' predecessor Michael Köllner only suffered his first defeat with TSV 1860 after 14 games

“They have only lost one of their last eleven games.

For me, Ingolstadt has one of the best squads in the league.

“It will be the next challenge for us to get our game on the pitch against such an opponent,” says Giannikis.

He warns against the FCI standards (“Long throw-ins!”), against physically robust professionals – and against a well-rehearsed unit.

And yet: Giannikis believes his team can win.

He would love to expand his series.

Köllner has set standards in this regard.

It was only after 14 games with 1860 that he suffered his first defeat.

If Giannikis can top that, the season could still be exciting at the top.

“It’s about three points, we’re in good shape and we want to try to keep it here.”

He doesn't believe that the team is becoming arrogant: “We haven't achieved anything yet.

“It’s all hard earned,” says the 43-year-old.

“It's about three points, we're in good shape and we want to try to keep it here.

We must not let up a percentage point.

It's important that no one goes crazy, but I don't have that feeling in training either." (Uli Kellner)
