Italian Marta Bassino finishes the first round of the Ski World Cup giant slalom in Soldeu (Andorra).
The 27-year-old transalpine skier is ahead of her compatriot Federica Brignone by 3 hundredths and New Zealander Alice Robinson by 11 hundredths.
The gaps in the first round are very close, with the first ten skiers remaining within 64 hundredths of a second.
The Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami, leader of the Giant World Cup, could not do better than a provisional ninth place (+61 hundredths).
If the Ticino woman manages to make up for her deficit in the second round and win, she would dethrone the American Mikaela Shiffrin, who withdrew due to injury, in first place in the general ranking of the World Cup.
The gap between the two skiers is only 95 points and a victory earns 100 points.
No French skier managed to qualify for the second round: Caitlin McFarlane (41st) and Clarisse Brèche (43rd) finished beyond the 30th qualifying place.
Clara Direz and Laurine Lugon-Moulin did not finish the race.
The second round is scheduled from 1:30 p.m.
