Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto: DSV men want to sprint for gold
For the German biathletes, the World Championships started without the medal they had hoped for.
In the mixed relay, the team around Justus Strelow, Philipp Nawrath, Franziska Preuß and Vanessa Voigt only came in fifth place.
Nawrath and Strelow in particular showed a good race.
Nawrath already won the sprint in Östersund this season and is one of the favorites.

This also includes another German, Benedikt Doll.
The 33-year-old won the sprints in Lenzerheide and Oberhof and is in second place in the sprint rankings.
If Doll stays clean, he has a good chance of winning the gold medal.
In 2017 he won this at the World Championships in Hochfilzen.
The biggest competitors for the German runners probably come from Norway, as befits their status.
With Tarjei Bö, Johannes Thingnes Bö, Sturla Holm Laegreid, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen and Endre Stroemsheim, six Norwegians are at the top of the overall World Cup.
Johannes Thingnes Bø starts the race as defending champion.
