The Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, writes its own stories.

An Olympic champion has to make do with a bed in the kitchen.

Nove Mesto – The best ski hunters in the world compete at the Biathlon World Championships.

However, the conditions are not world-class for everyone – at least when it comes to accommodation in Nove Mesto.

You won't find luxury here.

The Norwegians have always been the dominant team in the Biathlon World Cup and are also among the top favorites at the World Cup.

Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen is in a strong fourth place in the overall standings, although he has since been left off the World Cup team.

However, three compatriots are still ahead of the Olympic relay champion, and two more are directly behind.

Does that mean Christiansen has to make do with extremely spartan accommodation?

Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto: Three-time world champion sleeps in the kitchen

“How does it feel to be number four in the world sleeping in the kitchen?” teammate Johannes Thingnes Bö asked his roommate Christiansen in an Instagram live stream on Thursday.

The biathlon ace, who recently confessed to taking doping substances and was therefore acting completely legally, replied with a laugh: "I don't know how it got to this point."

Bö spoke of “probably the worst room at this World Cup”.

The 17-time world champion passed the time in the shared accommodation during his free lunchtime with the stream and also answered questions from fans.

The 30-year-old also showed the apartment in which he lives with Christiansen and Johannes Dale-Skjevdal during the two-week World Cup in the Czech Republic.

Christiansen apparently has to sleep in the kitchen.

Olympic champions from Norway have to forego normal hotel rooms at the Biathlon World Cup

There are hardly any normal hotel rooms close to the route in the rural region where there is a threat of tragedy at the Biathlon World Cup.

In their free time, the Norwegians sometimes sit at the games console, mainly playing a Formula 1 racing simulation.

Bö won silver with the Norwegian mixed relay team at the start of the World Cup on Wednesday, but the big favorite for the title was somewhat surprisingly beaten by France (all results at a glance).

“We are happy with silver,” answered five-time Olympic champion Bö when asked by a fan.

The men's sprint continues at the highlight of the season on Saturday (schedule for the Biathlon World Cup).

Meanwhile, Laura Dahlmeier explains the problem with the darkness at the Biathlon World Cup.
