British football fans are known for their party spirit.
Now their own government wanted to lecture them about beer.
The ridicule didn't take long to come.
London – The 2024 European Championship in Germany concerns not only fans, but also governments.
Now the Foreign Ministry in London has issued a very special travel warning.

Football supporters of the national teams from England, Scotland and Wales (if the team qualifies for the playoffs in March) should be careful in Germany: there are warnings about German beer.

Specifically, it is about the strength of the alcoholic beverage and its effects: “The beer in Germany can be stronger than in Great Britain,” says the government statement.
“So drink responsibly, know your limits and respect local laws.” If supporters go overboard, it could have fatal consequences: “It could happen that you won't be allowed into the stadium if you drink too much drink."
Advice before the European Football Championship causes a lot of criticism
This tip didn't go down well with the party-loving English.
MP Kevin Foster told
The Sun
newspaper : "At a time when there are so many serious issues affecting world peace, German beer should be the least of our Foreign Office's worries."
In fact, German beer is a little stronger than British beer (4.4), with an alcohol content of 4.7 to 5.4 percent.
At least half a million British fans are expected in Germany for the European Championships.
Julian Nagelsmann's team will face Scotland in the opening game.
The English team will play their first game on June 16th at Schalke against Serbia.
