Nadia Fanchini, a former top skier herself and also successful at world championships, talked about her new life a year after the severe blow of fate.
“We are still in disbelief and shock.
Maybe the pain will never go away.”
She and her family had heard and noticed the doctors' explanations.
But they could never really understand her.
"We thought she could do it, and at some point we said, 'There's got to be a miracle.'
Unfortunately it didn’t work out that way.”

“In everyday life I look for her, tell her something or show her a photo: only in that moment do I realize that this is impossible,” says Nadia Fanchini.

Seven months after her sister's death, Nadia Fanchini gave birth to her third child.
It was a boy.
She called him Giacomo.
