Paris town hall reacts.

Put on the ropes by the surprise announcement of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, who announced Thursday that his club was going to leave the Parc des Princes, Anne Hidalgo responded this Sunday through the voice of Emmanuel Grégoire, his first deputy.

Present in front of the press for the inauguration of the Adidas Arena at Porte de la Chapelle, the number two at the town hall was affirmative: PSG will continue to play in its historic venue.

Three questions on the still very vague project of moving the Park

“What we want is to no longer interact with PSG through the press.

The rest is in-between and I don't want to comment through the press.

PSG will never leave the Parc des Princes,” he explained.

Degraded relationships

Until now, the town hall had not responded to the bombshell dropped by the president of the French champion club.

“It's over now, we want to move from the Park” he announced at the end of a UEFA congress last Thursday.

Al-Khelaïfi, who has been seeking to make the Parc des Princes the property of PSG for many years, added “having wasted years wanting to buy” the Porte Saint-Cloud enclosure.

The club also intends to put an end to all its investments in the stadium.

For several months now, relations between the Qatari president and Anne Hidalgo have deteriorated significantly due to this conflict.

Tensions increased after the Paris Council voted against a sale of the Park on Tuesday February 6.

Linked to the City of Paris by an agreement for the occupation of the public domain, which runs until 2044, PSG could have to pay nearly 20 million euros if it wishes to acquire the stadium.
