TSG coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, who is celebrating his one-year anniversary, is aware of the seriousness of the situation.
“I started as a coach here exactly a year ago.
At that point we were in 14th place in the table with 19 points after 20 games.
We now have 26 points from 20 games.
We are two points behind seventh place, a possible international place, with a huge gap down,” explains the former VfB Stuttgart coach at the press conference before the game against 1. FC Köln.
While John Anthony Brooks will miss Sunday due to suspension, winter signing David Jurasek could make his debut in the TSG Hoffenheim jersey.
The Rhinelanders recently won 2-0 against Eintracht Frankfurt – a glimmer of hope in the relegation battle.
The next step towards staying in the league should now be taken in the PreZero Arena.
Hoffenheim won the first leg in Cologne 3-1.

The TV rights for Sunday's games are ultimately held by the paid sports streaming service DAZN.
The live broadcast from Sinsheim starts on Sunday at 5 p.m.
Lukas Schönmüller is the moderator.
The commentator is Tom Kirsten, who is supported by expert Sascha Bigalke.
The first highlights on free TV will be available on Sunday evening in the third ARD programs.
Kick-off in Sinsheim is at 5:30 p.m.
The game will be led by referee Christian Dingert from Lebecksmühle.
