A bitter blow in the stomach for FC Bayern: Thomas Tuchel's team loses the top game against Bayer Leverkusen.
The tz individual review.
Munich – Football Germany looked spellbound at the BayArena on Saturday evening: Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern played a thrilling, but also one-sided, top game.
The Werkself gave the Munich team no chance and moved five points ahead in the championship fight.
FC Bayern had no chance for long stretches and had to admit defeat to Xabi Alonso's clearly better team.
Which Bayern stars were still able to convince, and who showed a disappointing performance?
The
tz
notes.
Manuel Neuer
Initially kept the record champions in the game with numerous top saves and then scolded the people in front of them.
Parried a total of eight shots on goal, but was powerless to concede the goals.
The best Munich player – which says a lot about the performance of his teammates.
Note 3
Dayot Upamecano
Got fit in time for the big game.
B04 gave B04 the first chance to score after an unsuccessful header (11th), and Andrich tunneled in on the cross for Leverkusen's opening goal.
Clarified shortly before half-time with a mega tackle in dire need when Bayer striker Tella ran alone towards Neuer.
Grade: 4
(from 60. Joshua Kimmich no. B.)
Eric Dier
Received preference over de Ligt.
Important tackle in the ninth minute, but after that there were a lot of coordination problems in the back three.
Had problems keeping the center close and moved out of the defensive line at the wrong moments.
Grade: 5
Minjae Kim
Was immediately in the starting line-up after returning from the Asia Cup.
Was lucky that Neuer parried his failed clearance and thus saved him from an own goal - but the following corner led to Leverkusen taking the lead.
Appeared disoriented in his new role as a half-left central defender and left the Bayer attackers too much space for combinations.
Grade: 5

Noussair Mazraoui
On his side, he had big problems with his opponent Adli, who kept running away from him in numerous sprint duels.
At least he tried to get involved at the front occasionally - but that wasn't successful.
Grade: 5
Aleksandar Pavlovic
Made an unusually large number of passing errors and caused a hectic pace and loss of the ball in the build-up game.
Although he tried to direct his teammates with commands, he seemed overwhelmed against the agile Bayer headquarters around Wirtz and Xhaka.
Very poor performance from the youngster.
Grade: 5
(from 60. Thomas Müller, no B.)
Leon Goretzka
He put his shot over the goal in the 13th minute and had hardly any forward action after that.
Couldn't give the record champions any stability and showed a pale performance.
Grade: 4
(from 71. Mathys Tel, no B.)
Sacha Boey
Celebrated his first starting eleven appearance at FC Bayern.
Came across the unfamiliar left side of defense and had problems asserting himself against Stanisic and Tella.
Grade: 5
(from 81. Raphael Guerreiro no B.)
Jamal Musiala
Didn't have a good day and had few offensive actions.
Poor performance from the super dribbler.
Grade: 5
(from 81. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting o. B.)
Leroy Sane
He resisted defeat for a long time.
He picked up a lot of balls and tried to put his offensive colleagues in the spotlight - but didn't pose any danger.
Defended half-heartedly in front of Bayer's opening goal.
Grade: 4
Harry Kane
Was completely out of the attack and took little part in the record champions' game.
So, as usual, he dropped deep to distribute balls forward.
But he hardly managed to do that in this game - also because Munich's three-man defense was missing an offensive colleague in the attack.
Grade: 4
