Highlights: Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle sets new world record in 100m freestyle. The 19-year-old broke the record in 46 sec 80 during the World Swimming Championships in Doha. Previous record was held by Romanian David Popovici during the European Championships in Rome in the summer of 2022. The mark was set during the 4x100m freeestyle relay won by China. The event took place at the Doha International Aquatics Centre in Qatar. The world record was set by the Romanian in the same event in 2022.


The Chinese broke the world record this Sunday during the world swimming championship events in Doha.


The Chinese Pan Zhanle broke the world record for the 100m freestyle in 46 sec 80, removing six hundredths from the previous record held by the Romanian David Popovici, Sunday during the World Swimming Championships in Doha.

Zhanle, 19, set the mark during the 4x100m freestyle relay won by China.

The previous record was broken by Popovici during the European Championships in Rome in the summer of 2022.
