The African Championship was concluded last night (Sunday) with a real Hollywood ending.
Hosts Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the final match with a massive turnaround to lift the title for the third time in their history, but more than the win itself, the football world was mostly excited for Sebastian Haller.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has already become a role model and has inspired millions around the world thanks to his moving story.
Haller, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in July 2022, beat the disease after a series of treatments and returned to the courts less than six months later.
Yesterday he got to close a circle and reached the peak of emotion with a winning goal he scored in the 81st minute, finally crowning him as the perfect winner of the tournament, after finding the net in the semi-finals as well.
"I dreamed of this moment for a long time. I wanted to do it not for myself, but for my country. We made so many people happy at home, and I pray that it will do a little good in their hearts," Haller said at the end.
He deserves it the most.

The exciting moment at the end
The viral moment of the interview came when the interviewer, former footballer Basila Boli, burst into tears along with Haller when he asked him about the hardships he went through on the way to the happy moment.
"Finally a moment of happiness. It feels so good to finally get some payback after everything I've been through," Haller said through tears, hugging Bully.
"I believe that everything has a reason. Everything I went through was for a good cause. Never stop believing in it."
