After the defeat against Leverkusen, FC Bayern Munich has to seriously fear for the twelfth German championship in a row.

A supercomputer knows how big the chances still are.

Munich – Bayer 04 Leverkusen underlined its championship ambitions with an impressive performance against FC Bayern.

With a gap of five points, things are looking anything but good for Munich in the race for the trophy.

A supercomputer has now calculated what the chances of a new comeback are.

Supercomputer sees Leverkusen ahead of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga

The data service provider Opta fired up the computer and simulated the remaining 13 Bundesliga games.

Accordingly, the probability that the Werkself will become German champions for the first time in the club's history is a whopping 66 percent.

The roles have changed fundamentally compared to the beginning of the season.

At that time, the supercomputer had still predicted 52.4 percent of Munich to be champions, while Leverkusen only came in fourth place (20.3 percent) in the calculation.

FC Bayern wants to repeat the feat from the 2018/19 season

Despite the five points behind Bayer Leverkusen, FC Bayern should not be written off.

Last season, record champions Borussia Dortmund snatched the championship they believed were secure with a last-minute goal on matchday 34.

This time too, the probability of winning the twelfth championship in a row is still 34 percent, according to the supercomputer.

The 2018/19 season gives the Reds hope.

At that time, FC Bayern were also five points behind the then leaders Borussia Dortmund after the 21st matchday.

But the team of then coach Niko Kovač didn't let themselves be defeated, including sweeping BVB off the pitch 5-0 and greetings from the top again after 34 match days.

Bayern still plays at home against Leipzig and Dortmund

The calculation involves calculating the probability of each game outcome using betting market odds and a team ranking.

These are based on historical and current performance.

By analyzing the results, the model also provides each team's likely progress at each stage of the season to produce final predictions.

Some difficult opponents still await FC Bayern, including the Munich team who can't afford any more slip-ups at home against RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.

They also have to go to Stuttgart at the beginning of May.

The current league leaders have it easier: Leverkusen only has to survive against Dortmund and Stuttgart.
