Passport, roundup of the weekend in world football/Sport1
A column published last night (Monday) on Celtic's popular fan site, thecelticblog, gave a taste of what Lyall Abda has been going through at the Scottish club since the outbreak of war.
A writer named James Forrest (not the football player of course) published a long column, full of distortions of reality and a display of ignorance when it comes to the war.
Celtic fans have been known for years for their support for the Palestinians, but since the current war broke out, they have turned up the volume and pro-Palestinianism has turned anti-Israel.
The 22-year-old Abda is at the center of the cauldron and the team has noticed that he is having trouble coping - playing "for" fans who express burning hatred towards his country.
Abda was not included in the squad for the match against Set.
Miren on Sunday and the club want to allow him to deal mentally with the situation.
In Scotland, quite a few people dealt with the problematic situation, but with displays of ignorance like that of James Forrest, the Israeli winger's struggle is a difficult story.

So far, the names of 569 martyrs who fell in the war in Gaza have been allowed to be published, but Forrest wrote some disturbing words: "True, Israel was the victim of a terrorist attack on October 7, but now it is the one that attacks and is responsible for the number of dead bodies that rise every day. Perhaps the slave has family members and friends in the army , I don't know, but in light of the fact that they are wearing protective vests, driving tanks and dropping bombs from the air - the most dangerous thing that can happen to them is that one day they will be prosecuted. So his indulgence is a bit ridiculous to me."
The publicist fan also wrote: "The club did everything it could for him, even allowing him to take time for himself. And when he returns, we will be entitled to demand that he be at his best. We gave him trust and a broad back, and we are entitled to the same. To be honest, Abda owes us a debt. If He wants to be remembered here - and not because of the current soap opera - he will have to learn to deal with the pressure."
In his column, Forrest also included lies about Shiv Yehezkel and Aden Kartsev, when he claimed that they were arrested in Turkey for "supporting Israeli aggression in Gaza" (in reality both expressed support for the Israeli hostages) and claimed: "If Abda feels uncomfortable at Celtic, he is probably under the influence of a handful of extreme lunatics. Not crazy from our stands, but from the extreme right in his country."
He also wrote: "I understand the position he is in, but we are in the middle of a championship fight and we need our best footballers. Abda is not the first footballer to play away from his homeland while it is at war."
