Highlights: Seeshaupt stands up well to favorite Pöllwitz in the cup, but the “mosquitoes’ bite when it comes to clearing. For any Seeshaupter dreams of a sensation and put the favorites on course for victory, put the favorite on the course for a victory at any time. A lot of nervousness in the jumping district derby - and a winning win in the Jahnhalle district derby. Second division team Ettlingen kicked the European Cup winners out of the competition on Saturday.

It was a highlight for the Seeshaupter sports bowlers: In the DKBC Cup they met European Cup winners SV Pöllwitz - and pulled out of the affair with respect.

Seeshaupt

- It didn't matter to Ramona Resch's nerves that there, just a few meters away from her, were players from the reigning European Cup winners getting ready for the game.

To put it exaggeratedly, it could have been last in the district league.

Before a game, “I’m always nervous,” said the SG Seeshaupt/Weilheim player.

And yet, Resch freely admitted, it was something special to be able to play in a competitive game against a team like SV Pöllwitz.

with a second-round victory in the DKBC Cup

.

The Bavarian league team was drawn against the club from Thuringia in the round of 16 – currently one of the big names in “sports bowling” in Germany.

The outsider did well at home on Sunday, and in the 6-2 defeat he played on an equal footing for long stretches against the currently third-placed team in the 1st Bundesliga.

The three dozen or so spectators – all specialists – saw it with goodwill.

The team implemented what they had set out to do: “We didn’t make it easy for them,” said team captain Manuela Seitz with satisfaction.

“We are happy with what we delivered.” 3276 wood was at least the best performance of the season.

The decisive factor for the outcome of the game “was definitely the clearing,” said Seitz.

The hosts were clearly left behind (1058:1141).

Three SV Pöllwitz players managed to clear 200 or more pieces of wood - proof of the Bundesliga club's high performance.

The favorite from Thuringia

, who will be playing in the quarter-final second leg of the Champions League in Croatia next weekend, was happy to have confidently overcome the “Seeshaupt” hurdle.

Player Sarah Conrad described the performance as “okay” with a total of 3368 wood and 15 set points.

The demands of a Bundesliga team are high, and so the analysis went: “Each of us still had room for improvement.” In any case, the track records remained untouched.

SV Pöllwitz took their opponents, who were two leagues lower, seriously: coach Ronny Hahn (not present on the trip to Upper Bavaria) took a close look at, among other things, the video streams from the Bayernliga available on “Sportdeutschland.TV” in order to understand the peculiarities of the To explore the Seeshaupter Bahn and the Kegelfall.

“It was clear to us that the railway had its pitfalls and that we would have to stretch ourselves here,” said Conrad.

The SVP's top player - most recently noticed in the Bundesliga with a phenomenal 676 wood - together with Celine Dannehl in the starting pairings, should quickly destroy any Seeshaupter dreams of a sensation and put the favorites on course for victory.

For Pöllwitz, the men's cup events served as a warning: Second division team Ettlingen kicked the European Cup winners Raindorf out of the competition on Saturday.

As desired, Conrad clearly won her duel against Petra Kräh (519 wood/0:4 sets).

But it didn't really get rolling, even though 570 wood (214 in clearance) was a respectable result.

By his own admission, Conrad was physically weak.

She confessed that she “played powerlessly.”

“It’s death on the train here.”

Ramona Resch

made it clear that the Seeshaupt team would be more than just sparring partners that day

.

She clearly won the first set against Dannehl (151:128).

But the opponent hit back in the second set (141:122).

A very exciting duel developed in which both won two sets each and the very last throw decided: Resch (572 wood) won by a small margin against Dannehl (571).

A team point for Seeshaupt was guaranteed.

When it came to total wood, the guests were well ahead (+50).

The lead faltered in the middle pairings.

When the third set came to a close, the hosts were only a good 20 wood behind.

But Pöllwitz didn't allow more, after every 120 throws the guests were exactly 50 wood ahead again.

However, the team points were still tied: Nadine Wieser (536/1:3) lost to Selina Thiem (557), in the other duel

Regina Resch

(552/3:1) beat Maria Dix (531) after just three rounds Team point secured.

Dix was the only one from the second team among the guests, otherwise only players from the first team were used.

In the final pairings it looked as if Seeshaupt would even get a third team point.

Manuela Seitz

was ahead with 2-0 sets, after which her opponent, Gabriele Muhl, got the turn.

In a head-to-head race in the last set, the SVP player narrowly prevailed (564:554).

Seitz was better in the full (381:364), but Muhl made up decisive ground in clearing (200:173).

In the other match, Pöllwitz' Diana Langhammer (575/3:1) quickly made things clear against

Carola Waitz

(543).

In the first two sets it seemed as if Langhammer (150/160) could grab the 600 wood.

The third round (131) destroyed that.

However, she already secured the team point there because Waitz, who was often unlucky when it came to clearing, couldn't get past 123 wood.

In the end there were happy faces on both sides.

Pöllwitz had lived up to his role as favorite, Seeshaupt had shown that he could challenge the “mosquitoes” (as the first division team calls themselves).

A new match, as a test as part of season preparation, is at least planned.
