In just seconds, the happy face of the Kansas City Chiefs fans changed to one of absolute terror.
A shooting has caused panic at the celebration of the winner of Super Bowl 58, played on Sunday in Las Vegas.
It was a moment of celebration for a city that has seen American football's biggest trophy arrive for the third time in five years, but a series of explosions ended that spirit of celebration and caused a human stampede in Missouri's main city.
The AP agency reports that there are between eight and ten injured by the bullets.
Two people have been arrested by the authorities.
“Shots have been fired around Union Station.
Please leave the area,” Kansas City police wrote around 2:00 p.m. (local time) on social media.
The Chiefs, the winners of the final, had walked through the streets of the city in a parade that had ended in front of the city's train station.
The players, including Patrick Mahomes, dedicated a few words of gratitude to the fans there.
Among the audience were families with children.
The attendees, several tens of thousands of people, were beginning to leave the place when explosions were heard to the west of the building.
“It sounded like fireworks, but the reaction of the people was that of a shooting,” said Neil Jones, a reporter for local television station KCTV, of the CBS network.
The bursts sounded for only a few seconds.
