Stefan Effenberg sees FC Bayern currently in a state of upheaval - and believes in the end of a successful era.
Where are we headed in the future?
Munich – The Champions League has woken up from hibernation and is waiting for the first leg of the round of 16.
FC Bayern will play Lazio Rome (Wednesday, February 14th, 9 p.m./live on DAZN) – as favorites.
However, Stefan Effenberg, who captained Munich to the premier class title in 2001, no longer sees the German record champions as favorites for the title.
Effenberg: “FC Bayern is still in transition”
When asked
in
Kicker who he has as favorites for the Champions League title, he said: “Real Madrid, but I also have Inter Milan on my radar.
They are hungry, have a really good team and want to confirm last year's finals.
Plus Manchester City.
Then FC Bayern will come.”
And why does he only name FC Bayern fourth?
“Bavaria is still in transition.
Lewandowski is already gone, Müller is no longer a regular player, Neuer still has one or two years,” he said in an interview with
Kicker
.

According to Effenberg, FC Bayern no longer has “this top level”
In two or three years people would talk completely differently about FC Bayern.
“They no longer shine like they did at Sixtuple in 2020, they no longer have this top level.
For me, FC Bayern is at the end of a great time, it is at the crossroads of where the journey will take us in the future.”
If FC Bayern no longer finds any “Müllers, Schweinsteigers, Riberys” who “live and have lived FC Bayern”, it will be difficult for the club.
Effenberg therefore hopes that Joshua Kimmich will extend his contract with the Munich team.
Because the former Bayern player feels that the 29-year-old is the “last identification figure”.

Stefan Effenberg is sure: Thomas Tuchel is the right one for FC Bayern
And coach Thomas Tuchel?
According to Effenberg, he is the right one for FC Bayern.
“He came in a difficult phase, which was immediately followed by upheaval in the management team.
They started the new season with a thin squad and major injury concerns.
Then it’s logically difficult to develop a team further,” he said in the
Kicker
interview.
After the bitter defeat against Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, FC Bayern now has to deliver against Lazio.
“Bayern has to progress, no matter how.
“It’s going to be difficult – Lazio can do more than some Bundesliga teams that are hunkering down against Bayern,” said Effenberg.
