The Spaniard, who was answering questions from journalists during a videoconference, however wondered about the reasons which pushed Hamilton to leave Mercedes.
“It was a surprise, I must say, because from the outside, he appeared very linked to Mercedes, he was loyal to them
,” added Alonso who seems to doubt the sincerity of Lewis Hamilton when he declared that joining the Scuderia was
“a childhood dream”
, like joining the German manufacturer in 2013.

“They have had a fast car for several seasons, and perhaps Lewis will be able to to give them that little extra so that they can really fight for the championship.”
