He left his mark on the Bundesliga, playing for Leverkusen, FC Bayern and Hamburger SV.
Nowadays, Zé Roberto stands out for his love of animals.
Munich - It's the game of the year in the Bundesliga: Bayer 04 Leverkusen awaits FC Bayern Munich for the absolute summit meeting on the evening of February 10th.
There was a lot of discussion about the top game in advance.
And of course the focus was also on the players who have already worn both jerseys.
What does Zé Roberto actually do?
Active in Germany for Leverkusen, Bayern and HSV
Zé Roberto is one of them.
The Brazilian played for the Werkself from 1998 to 2002 and for the record champions from 2002 to 2006.
After an interlude in Brazil and Uruguay, there was a second chapter at FC Bayern from 2007 to 2009.
José Roberto da Silva Júnior – his real name – then played for Hamburger SV until 2011 before his career ended in Qatar and Brazil.
In total, Zé Roberto played for clubs in five different countries in South America, Europe and Asia.
A true football globetrotter.

And what is he doing now?
The now 49-year-old draws attention to himself on his Instagram account primarily with photos and videos of his unbelievable state of fitness.
The former midfielder is completely trained and will probably make many a current Bundesliga professional green with envy.
When he's not steeling his body, Zé Roberto likes to hang out with his dog.
How much he loves his American Bully is highlighted by a video that he has currently pinned to the top of his Instagram account.

And who will pull the wool over who's teeth in the Bundesliga's top game?
It is quite possible that Zé Roberto will follow the meeting between his two former clubs.
Before the game, the record champions were still worried about their captain Manuel Neuer, while Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is already being begged by fans from a completely different fan camp.
