FC Bayern Munich suffers a setback in the title race.
On the offensive, the German record champions completely lacked penetration.
Munich/Leverkusen – Bayer Leverkusen extended its lead to five points with a well-deserved 3-0 win over harmless FC Bayern in the top game of the Bundesliga.
Werkself coach Xabi Alonso stood smiling with his players in front of the cheering fans after the 27th win in the 31st competitive game.
Bayern, on the other hand, didn't feel like laughing, especially when looking at the expected goals value.
FC Bayern without any penetration in the Bundesliga duel with Leverkusen
The expected goal model reveals the actual probability of a goal being scored and calculates a corresponding value for each shot on goal based on various factors.
The xG value offers a more meaningful assessment than the traditional goal-scoring statistics and is always between 0 and 1 per shot. If all goal chances in the game are added together, this gives a team's expected goals value.
FC Bayern Munich had an xG value of just 0.27 in the game against Bayer Leverkusen.
An extremely poor value that shows how harmless head coach Thomas Tuchel's team really was in the top game of the Bundesliga.

Wolff-Christoph Fuss, who commented on the game in Leverkusen for the pay-TV channel Sky, also couldn't believe that the Munich offensive couldn't put itself in the spotlight at all.
“Bayern’s expected goals value is 0.16.
Such values are only known from hearsay at FC Bayern,” he said in the 82nd minute, when the score was 2-0 for Bayer Leverkusen.
FC Bayern's expected goals value is shockingly weak
For comparison: In the 3-1 home win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Bayern had an expected goals value of 2.27, away in Augsburg it was even 2.82 and even in the home defeat against SV Werder Bremen the value was 1 ,51.
The 0.27 in Leverkusen therefore shows FC Bayern's complete lack of chances in the top game of the Bundesliga.

Despite the disappointment with the result and performance, the German record champions are still fighting for the twelfth German championship in a row.
“We will now do the devil to throw in the towel.
For us the distance changes, but the approach doesn't.
We have to keep going and get better,” said Thomas Tuchel after the game on Sky.
