In the top game, Bayer Leverkusen surprised FC Bayern and won 3-0.
This was probably also because Xabi Alonso surprised Thomas Tuchel.
Leverkusen – It was FC Bayern's negative highlight of the current season.
In a direct duel with championship rivals Bayer Leverkusen, Thomas Tuchel's team was outclassed 3-0 and had to watch as the Werkself took a big step towards the championship.
A personnel adjustment by Xabi Alonso probably surprised the Munich coach.
Tuchel identifies Frimpong as a key player - Alonso puts him on the bench
Before the big game against Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel had reportedly identified Jeremie Frimpong as a key player for the Werkself.
At least that's what Sportbild
reports
.
The fast Dutchman is involved in many of Leverkusen's attacks and has already scored twelve goals in 20 games.
FCB newcomer Sacha Boey celebrated his starting eleven debut and was supposed to defend him.
However, Frimpong surprisingly had to sit on the bench before the big game.
Nathan Tella played for him on the right wing.
After it became clear that the key player chosen by Tuchel was not in the starting lineup, the team waited
in vain for their coach to change, according to
Sportbild .
According to the report, he did not want to admit that he had gambled away with his match plan.

Bayer players are happy about Tuchel's lineup
Tuchel relied on a back four in all games this season.
In the summit meeting with the rivals from the Rhine, however, he brought three central defenders into the starting line-up for the first time this season.
When the Bayer Leverkusen players realized that the record champions had adjusted their formation in the top game, this boosted their self-confidence, as defense chief Jonathan Tah explained.
“When we saw that in the dressing room, we felt how much respect they have for us,” said Tah, commenting on the Bayern coach’s change.
Only after the 2-0 defeat did Tuchel reshuffle his team and switch offensively.
However, Xabi Alonso and Leverkusen were perfectly prepared for this and left the field to Bayern without having any chances to score.

Alonso beats Tuchel before kick-off
The humiliation that FC Bayern had to experience in a direct duel with Bayer Leverkusen began before kick-off.
Tuchel's tactical adjustment ultimately didn't work and a correction came late.
While FC Bayern had problems finding their way into the game in an unfamiliar formation, Leverkusen trusted in their own strengths and delivered an almost perfect top game.
