Shortly after his transfer to Dortmund from Amsterdam, in the summer of 2022, the 29-year-old saw his season end before it even started: the Franco-Ivorian had in fact had to put his career on hold to treat cancer testicles.
Illness kept him away from the field for many months, with the player not making his return until early 2023.
