Two four-man bobsleighs crash in the challenging Altenberg ice track.
A Swiss man was seriously injured and had to undergo surgery.
Altenberg – The opening training for the Bobsleigh World Cup in Altenberg was overshadowed by two serious falls.
The Swiss sled suffered particularly badly in curve section 13/14.
Pusher Sandro Michel was thrown out of the four-man bobsleigh driven by pilot Michael Vogt and remained dazed in the ice track.

After the fall, the 210 kilogram sled slid back down the track from the uphill finish line and hit the Swiss with full force.
In such a situation, a four-man bobsleigh can reach a speed of around 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.
The 27-year-old was seriously injured and was immediately flown by helicopter to the hospital in Dresden.
The Swiss association Swiss Sliding announced that Sandro Michel had sustained injuries to his chest, pelvis and thigh area and had to be operated on immediately.
The pusher of the Swiss four-man bobsleigh is now stable.

Pilot Vogt suffered a severe concussion and several bruises.
The other two pushers, Dominik Hufschmid and Andreas Haas, escaped with minor injuries.
The Bobsleigh World Championship, which will take place from February 19th to March 3rd, 2024 in the Veltins Ice Arena in Winterberg, is apparently no longer an issue for the Swiss quartet.
Swiss bobsleigh pusher seriously injured
In addition to the bobsleigh from Switzerland, world champion Johannes Lochner from Berchtesgaden also took part in Altenberg.
The German also fell in corner 13/14, but he and his pushers weren't hit nearly as badly.
Erec Bruckert was also thrown from the sled and taken to the hospital, but he was already given the all-clear.
