Danny Avdia celebrates his career record game, perhaps the record game of an Israeli basketball player ever, and receives compliments from wall to wall.
"Thank you for all the support and love you give. Never give up on your dreams. Israel is alive!" Avdia wrote on Instagram after the game, in which he scored 43 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in a 133:126 loss to New Orleans.
Avdia also received congratulations from Omari Caspi, whose Israeli record he held with 36 points in an NBA game was broken.
"What a beauty, what a show. Keep it up!", Caspi wrote.
Washington coach Brian Keefe said that before the game he had a conversation with Avdia in which he emphasized the rebound.
Avdia was up to the task and pulled down 15 rebounds.
"Danny and I talked before the game about exactly this - Danny's rebounds are the trigger for his attack. When he takes rebounds, he can push the ball and create situations for himself and others," Keefe said, promising: "Danny has a big part in our attack, and it will continue to be so . He shows that he is capable of doing it, and we will continue to demand it from him. I believe that his ability in the last few games is no accident, and he will continue until the end of the season from that point."

Zion Williamson, who finished with 36 and a large part of Avdia's points were scored when he guarded him, treated the Israeli's performance with great respect and said in the end: "He had a great game from the beginning of the game to the end, on both sides of the court. When you thought he would throw up his hands, he still had high energy. You have to respect a player like that. He constantly involved his friends in the game, constantly attacking. He did great things today."
On the other hand, his teammate C.J. McCollum sounded completely different, and expressed demonstrable disdain for Avdia: "This guy (Avadia) scored 40 or something on us, and his average is only 13. When things like this happen, you know you're in trouble."
