One of the hospitals confirmed that it treated 12 wounded, 11 of them children, but none of them were life-threatening.

Another hospital reported that it was treating eight gunshot wounds, two in critical condition (none of them between the ages of 6 and 15), and four other non-gunshot wounds.

"Super Bowl celebrations will never be the same," wrote Brittany Mahomes, the partner of the team's star Patrick Mahomes, who wrote "Kansas City, praying for your safety."

The Kansas City Chiefs players, who won their second straight title, looked stunned, as coach Andy Reid was seen hugging a youngster and trying to calm him down, and the team's stars also attended to the shock victims and stayed by their side.

Paul Contreras, who attacked one of the suspects in the shooting and struggled with him, said that "he tried to run away, but I struggled with him, we were beaten, and he tried to get up and escape."

His daughter who was with him helped him in the fight and put the gun away, and the father and grandmother have already been defined as "heroes of the day" for their courage.

However, as mentioned, the incident is still being investigated.
