Brussels – International football nights are on the program again for Eintracht Frankfurt!
However, after the Hessians missed out on winning their Conference League group before the winter break, they now have to take the detour via the playoff round.
With the Belgian league leaders Union Saint-Gilloise, coach Dino Toppmöller's team faces an unpleasant opponent.

Conference League playoffs: Eintracht Frankfurt has to play at Union Saint-Gilloise
Not only is Saint Gilloise leading the Belgian Jupiler Pro League by a large margin, “Les Unionistes” have also caused a sensation on the European stage this season.
In the Europa League, German coach Alexander Blessin's team defeated the great Liverpool FC 2-1 at home.
It was only enough for third place in the group, which is why the Belgians are now playing in the Conference League.
Toppmöller knows how difficult the task is.
“Now it’s battle mode.
A hot dance awaits us,” said the coach on Wednesday evening after arriving in Brussels.
The recently injured Kevin Trapp and Omar Marmoush can also help.
Both were able to take part in the final training session on Wednesday.
Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe is also back in the squad after a muscle injury.
Toppmöller could still surprise with his lineup.

The SGE coach also pointed out the special nature of games at European level.
“It feels special.
Everyone who knows and has followed the club knows that international nights are something special for this club,” said Toppmöller.
“We want to seize the opportunity to extend and enjoy this festive season even further.”

Toppmöller considers it a privilege that the team can now compete in the knockout round of the competition.
This now needs to be recognized with a courageous performance.
“It's hard work to qualify for Europe.
You have to work for a whole season to be able to play internationally, and now we can,” said the 43-year-old.
